Eco school

Most young people care deeply about environmental issues and wish to make a positive change in the environment around them. The Eco-Schools programme provides an ideal way for fostering environmental awareness in the entire school in a way that links to many curriculum subjects. Our primary aim regarding the Eco-Schools scheme is to combine learning and action for the improvement of the environmental performance of Eco-Schools.

Why do we have an Eco Committe at Cairncastle?

The Eco Commitee is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved in how our school is run and help it to be environmentally friendly. The council benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers as it provides pupils to communicate their ideas and be fully involved in decision making.

Pupils will develop such skills as communication, confidence and negotiation.

What do we do?

Members of the Eco Commitee take part in discussions and votes and also feedback any information to their classes. Members regularly meet to discuss their ideas.

We are currently working towards our Green Flag Award. We have already achieved our Bronze and Silver Certificates. Above are some pictures to show all of our hard work that we have been putting in towards our Green Flag award.
